leadership resources. One of the owners, Doug Silsbee, is also principal
of Transformation Associates. An executive coach and business consultant,
Doug has a large network of resources that can support you or your organization
in change.
Doug will be happy to talk with you about help in designing or facilitating your team-building event, organizational meeting, or planning retreat. Bend of Ivy Lodge can provide outdoor team-building activities, a facilitator for your organization's planning process, and new approaches to team-building, visioning, and creative problem-solving. Doug himself has had 25 years experience as a catalyst for change in teams and individuals; the last 18 as an entrepreneur. A former geologist with Phelps Dodge, Doug worked at North Carolina Outward Bound School for 10 years, during which he created personal development programs for a wide variety of special populations in wilderness based. In 1986, he began his work as an independent consultant, providing support and tools for change to a wide variety of organizations. Since 1997, he has increasingly focused on working with individuals and helping them develop competencies for the challenges of work and life, while attending to the development of the whole person. In Doug's approach to human development, body, spirit, emotions, and mind are all integrated in the change process... nothing is left out.Doug's 2004 book, The Mindful Coach: Seven Roles for Helping People Grow, articulates a new integration of Buddhist mindfulness practices with a concrete approach to helping others learn.
